Roasted Asian Greens w/ tamari, ginger, and sesame

Roasted Organic Asian Greens with tamari, ginger, and sesame is delicious as a side dish or on it's on!  Here's a simple recipe for you to try.

Ingredients:

  • 450 grams of Asian greens (such as bok choy, or pak choy)
  • 30 milliliters of tamari (or soy sauce if preferred)
  • 30 milliliters of sesame oil
  • 30 milliliters of toasted sesame seeds
  • 2.5 centimeters of fresh ginger, minced or grated
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 15 milliliters of honey or maple syrup 
  • 15 milliliters of rice vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Ghee or oil for greasing the baking sheet

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).

  2. Prepare the Asian greens: Rinse the greens thoroughly and trim the ends, halve or quarter them lengthwise. Leave the smaller ones whole.

  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the tamari (or soy sauce), sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, honey, and rice vinegar. If you like a little heat, you can add red pepper flakes to taste. Set the sauce aside.

  4. Lightly grease a baking sheet with c a small amount of oil  or ghee to prevent sticking.

  5. Arrange the Asian greens on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.

  6. Drizzle the tamari, ginger, and sesame sauce over the greens.

  7. Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the greens.

  8. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.

  9. Roast the greens in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until they become tender and slightly caramelized around the edges. Keep an eye on them to avoid overcooking.

  10. Once roasted, remove the Asian greens from the oven and serve immediately. You can garnish with extra sesame seeds and a drizzle of extra tamari or sesame oil if desired.
